Launched in Germany in 1959, under the name of 'Fanta klare zitrone' (Fanta clear lemon), the drink was introduced to the United States just two years later. However, it would not appear in in Italy until 1981. To make the drink instantly recognisable, the product was marketed it in a special green bottle with an air bubble design on the side.
